HAIR CARE TIPS FOR ROUGH AND DRY HAIR FOR WOMEN

HAIR CARE TIPS FOR ROUGH AND DRY HAIR FOR WOMEN

It is the season to be jolly and the weather seems cooler today, contrary to the excessive heat that we are subjected to usually.

Those blessed with naturally silky hair, the texture of which is beautiful and manageable all year round effortlessly might not relate to what most of us relate to as the greatest nightmare i.e., dry and rough hair.

Styling hair that seems dull, rough, and dry is the toughest possible challenge that you can encounter. While being unattractive to look at, dry hair is usually unhealthy and brittle which makes it increasingly tough for one to maintain.

There is a vast fraction of the global population that suffers with catastrophic hair that is unhealthy due to exposure to pollutants in the atmosphere and hard water washing. Smoking, humidity, heat style, sun exposure, and other factors can all lead to damaged and dry hair. In the world that we live in, it is essential to adopt certain hair care regimes that are easy on the pocket and effective.

Some effective measures for your rough and dry hair:

  1. CHANGING YOUR SHEETS AND PILLOWCASES

Using silk or satin sheets and pillowcases has been known to reduce friction between our hair strands and the fabric, making it less susceptible to dryness, while reducing fragility.

  • TRIM YOUR HAIR REGULARLY

Getting regular trims helps avoid damaged hair symptoms like split ends. Split ends make our hair look dry, coarse, and frizzy, and are extremely difficult to style. They also inhibit healthy hair growth and need to be trimmed off once in a while.

  • DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY

If you have hair that is dry and frizzy or damaged, the last nail in the coffin for your hair that you can contribute towards is by washing your hair every day.

  • REFRAIN FROM USING HEAT STYLING AND AIR DRYING

Using heat to style hair like the use of a hair straightener or curling iron can be devastating to already dry and brittle hair. Instead of using a blow dryer to dry your hair, you can use a hair wrap that can contain moisture. Alternatively, during certain occasions, you can use your blow dryer, but from a strict distance of at least 6 inches from your hair.

  • USE COLD WATER TO WASH YOUR HAIR

Heat is already a contributing factor to hair damage without the use of hot water being the catalyst. The hot water you use to wash your body in the shower may be also scorching your hair. One of the potential health benefits of taking cold showers is that your hair may grow more quickly. Rinse your hair under a colder temperature of water for a minute or two after shampooing and conditioning your hair in the shower to renew strands and revive your scalp.

  • USING A NOURISHING OIL ONCE IN A WHILE

Using an oil like coconut, almond, avocado, or argan that is known for its nourishing properties can be beneficial for improving hair texture and quality while promoting growth. However, oiling your hair more can be saturating for your skin and scalp, paving the way to a flaky, asphyxiated scalp with inhibited hair growth, so you need to be aware of how much oil

should be used and the frequency.

These hair care tips have been known to be helpful for most people with dry and damaged hair problems, however, if dry hair problems persist for a long period of time, one must consult a trichologist for medicated products that are less heavy on chemicals and might be in need for a course of vitamins.
